At the University of Gothenburg, student life is about more than lectures and exams. It is about connection, community, and creating opportunities to stay active. For Rasmus, President of Idrottsrådet, the Sports Council, that mission is at the core of everything they do.
We give students an opportunity to go out, socialize and exercise a little bit.
But organising activities for a large and active student community has not always been straightforward.
The challenge of scattered communication
Before adopting Orbi, the team relied heavily on Facebook to manage events and communication. While it worked to some extent, it quickly became difficult to manage.
It was very hectic, it was spread out. You had sections over here and sections over here.
With information scattered across different places, internal coordination suffered. Important updates could be missed, and it became harder to keep everyone aligned.
That put a strain on the internal communication and people got confused.
From testing to full adoption
When Idrottsrådet first introduced Orbi, they started small.
We used it a little bit first to try out some activities.
It did not take long before they recognised its potential. What began as a test quickly turned into a full transition.
Eventually we saw the potential and therefore we decided to use it full time.
A central hub for communication
Today, Orbi has become their primary platform for reaching students.
Posting on Orbi is actually the main way we do it.
Instead of relying on fragmented channels, they now have one place where students know to look for updates.
Whenever we have an immediate update for an event or similar, we post it on Orbi to get out to as many followers as possible.
Building a stronger student community
With smoother operations and clearer communication, Idrottsrådet can focus on delivering meaningful experiences for students. Whether it is organizing sports activities or creating social opportunities, the goal remains the same: bringing people together.
And with the right tools in place, that goal becomes much easier to achieve.
